Every Junior who is going to Camp Perry needs to look at this information to see if they qualify for assistance.  Every dollar that a Junior gets reimbursed for makes going to Perry that much more affordable.

This is your responsibility.  Do not throw away the opportunity to be reimbursed for participation.

DO NOT HESITATE TO SEE IF YOU QUALIFY FOR  JUNIOR REIMBURSEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fill out the application and send it in when required!

I need to get a count of everyone who will be at Camp Perry and what matches you intend to participate in.  I need this information immediately.  I have just spoken with Mr. Whitman and he informed me that all of the support persons who are attending as well as junior shooters may leave us with a housing crunch.  An accurate count will enable us to accommodate everyone and support our teams to the greatest extent possible.

In order to get an accurate count I need this info:

1.  Are you going to Perry?
2.  What matches do you intend to shoot in?
3.  Do you have housing already organized for yourself?
4.  If you have housing arranged might you have any extra space to share with any support person's who might be coming to help the junior team.
5.  Are going to come to Perry to assist in the efforts of the junior team?  We need all the help we can get.

Keep in mind the following:

1.  I intend to field a PRPA Junior gold team (6 shooters) and a PRPA Junior blue team (6 shooters).  If we have enough additional participants we will run a PRPA "Junior Lions" team, which depends on availability of resources.  We will need a host of support personnel to assist with the Junior teams.
2.  The whistler boy matches are 2 man teams who also need assistance.
Assistance for both events will include scoring, pit pullers, coaches, and verifiers.

We will be most grateful if you let us know if you are willing to come out and support the Junior team!

It is time to plan on some serious shooting.  Camp Butner is coming up.  I need to get a good count on who is going.  Please return this e-mail or call if you are going.  Lets make sure we put as many people in cars as we can to save on fuel costs.  See http://www.odcmp.com/Competitions/EasternJrHPClinic.htm  for complete details on the Junior clinic at Camp Butner.

Camp Perry registration is open.  If you aren't going to be shooting in a clinic prior to Camp Perry and you haven't taken a clinic in the past, be sure to sign up for the Army Small Arms Firing School.  If you are not a new shooter be sure to take the USMC Junior clinic.  Either way you will get some awesome training.  If you go to Camp Butner you do not need to take a Junior Clinic at nationals.  I would prefer that the PA junior shooters take a clinic at the Nationals or at Camp Butner.  Local clinics are a great starting point, but that experience can be greatly enhanced with participation in the ARMY SAFS or the USMC Junior Clinic.  Remember they are the best shooters in the world so they might have something worthwhile to say.

There are also matches going on almost every weekend.  Be sure to shoot at every opportunity you can.  Call me to let me know how you are doing.  Also let me know where you are shooting.  I need to be hearing from every Junior as to where you are shooting, your scores and your thoughts on the events.  The best thing to do is call me.  If you cant reach me then e-mail is OK.

Also it is time to start getting a count on who is going to Camp Perry.  Remember that PRPA will sponsor the top 18 shooters (who want to go to Perry) up to $200 each who qualify at the State match on July 12th at Reade Range.  Call me to tell me of your intentions

Lastly we need to be doing some serious reloading.  The available junior brass is being run through the press now and we will need to prepare 600 rounds per shooter for those going to Camp Butner.  If you are reloading your own be sure to bring plenty of ammo.  We also need to keep ahead of the curve as many of you will be shooting matches prior to Camp Butner.  Knowing who is going will allow us to prepare for this.  Be sure to call me and let me know if you are going.

Be sure to write down your Zeros.  Take the time to practice from position.  I place a sticker on the stock of my rifle with my event zeroes clearly written so that I can conveniently adjust my sights without worry.  Some write these in their data books.

I have been doing some very active recruiting and am always looking for more Juniors to participate in the State match in July.  The more shooters who come out and test their mettle the better the pool of top shooters we will encounter.  This sport is fun, challenging, and exciting but more than anything remember that we are competing, first against ourselves and then against others.  Do what you can to constantly raise your own bar and then bring your skills out and see how you stand up against the rest of the crowd.  I hope to field three teams this year at the Nationals.  To do this we need competitors to come to the State match in July.  The PRPA will do our best to support you in as many ways as we can.  Mostly though our goal is to see you get to the Nationals.  Here you will represent yourself, your home clubs, the coaches and your parents who have  worked so hard and for so long to see you remain involved in the sport and grow as a competitor, and then finally Pennsylvania!  Good Luck this year!

If you know of Junior shooters out there who are not receiving this information please forward it to them and be sure to send me their e-mail addresses so that we can get to know them.  Also be sure to send me your clubs contact info so that I can increase our outreach to every club that shoots high-power in the state.

Keep in touch.  I look forward to a great season.
